Herring Salad
(Grandma's recipe)
Ingredients:
12-16 oz. jar sliced herring
in cream sauce with onion (1 fish)
1 large pickle (half sour or
dill)
2 hard boiled eggs
(put
salt and eggs in water, bring to a boil, turn off and cover for 20-30 minutes)
2 medium apples, peeled
(macintosh)
1 can beets, cubed or
julienne, drained (1 lb.)
25 whole capers
salt, seasoned salt, pepper,
etc.
2 heaping tbsp. mayonnaise
a little vinegar
Directions:
Cut everything to bite size,
mix and chill.
